The forgiveness of death

If you do not understand that without the resurrection of Jesus from the dead you would still be dead in your sins; you are not really understanding the forgiveness of sins.

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 1 Cor 15:17

Here are the reason's why this is missed or not understood.

Reason #1 -- Not seeing the correct problem as sin and death and understanding how they are defined.

God found that His man Adam had eaten from the corrupt wisdom (sin) that he had already told him would mean that he would 'surely die' (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil).
So God found them in the garden in death, married to death that sin* had bought.

*Sin is the corrupt wisdom called iniquity that says you can by your own works give yourself life. By what you do, what you get and what you have. But this wisdom will always fall short, never able to produce the life and immortality of God but always ends in death (death, NOT brought by God but by sin).

Man's problem was they had no ability to save themselves but could only ever labor and toil in futility to give themselves life. God explained to Adam that he would return to the ground (perish). Totally perish not just some spiritual death.

Adam felt fear, Adam felt ashamed, Adam didn’t see he was in the image and likeness of God, but ALL THIS that has been preached and taught as Adam’s problem was only the fruit not the root of his problem. The problem was death.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Rom 5:12

Reason #2 -- Not understanding that God gave man dominion over the earth and sovereignty (as a being who’s heart works through persuasion); meaning that because death enter through a man, the resurrection from the dead must also come through a man (death had to be conquered by a man).

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 1 Cor 15:21

Note that God was never shaken by any of this for He said He would provide Himself the lamb; coming as a man to die away our death.

Reason #3 -- The law of Moses never voided the promise God gave of Eternal life.

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began Titus 1:2

God blessed man and promised to give man His life before Adam ever fell into death and the law of Moses never voided that promise.

Paul said that the law was not against the promises of God. His promise is LIFE.

Reason #4 -- The law of Moses never presented another (alternative) way unto life.

The law revealed sin to be the thing responsible for man's death.
The law was meant to point to how God would conquer man's sin and death in Christ.

God never told man they could have life by their works. To do so would be tempting them with evil which He cannot and will not do.

But Paul said death reigned over man. And men in their carnal minds, laboring for life, were deceived into thinking they could have life by keeping the commandments and the rituals of the law, this corrupt thinking only brought them more death.

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Rom 7:11

Because the blood of bulls and goats could never conquer their death or put their flesh to rest, so they continued year after year using the laws and rituals as a sin maintenance program, but it could never cleanse their conscience from the death that loomed over them.

Sadly, much of the Church today is busy with sin maintenance, trying to give life to the old man who was trying to have life by his works; the way that God judged as death before the world began.

But God's solution to our sin and death problem was a once and for all time solution.
Hear me to the end on that, because I am not saying all will be saved.

Reason #5 -- Not seeing how God's solution was the only solution and absolutely perfect to totally destroy both of man's problems.

God’s solution was to come as a man and conquer man's death and raise up a new flesh and bone immortal man, seating Him at His right hand.

When you have someone laboring for anything and then someone comes and gives them for free the thing they are laboring for... they no more labor for that thing.

God saw man (in death) lusting for life through the strength of their flesh (by their own ability), and He not only died their death, but removed the sting of death and gave them His life as a gift.

Do you see how giving His life as a gift sets the one free who is trying to obtain it by their works? It utterly destroys that corrupt wisdom in an instant. For you don’t labor for what you have for free.

And the life that the Father clothed Jesus with was not just a life as a spirit in heaven... for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bone. but Jesus is seated at the Father right hand with a flesh and bone glorified human body that can never died again.

Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. Luke 24:39

Reason #6 – Not seeing that the only message that will put your flesh to rest is that your death has been conquered in the flesh of the man Christ Jesus.

Within this message I have defined sin but when most think of sin they think of the “bad actions” or behavior that result from this belief that you can have life by your works.

Just seeing Jesus death as a sacrifice for “your bad actions” will never allow you to go to rest; it will never give you a clean conscience.

You will need to crucify the Lord again and again. Maybe through rituals of confession, resolutions or 10 step programs.

For you will have bad actions tomorrow, the next day or some point in the future … and you can find yourself in the same place as those under the sway of death who thought that it was the observance of the commandments and rituals that would give them life.

There are those that say your sins are forgiven, past present and future. And there is a truth in that, however know this, your heart will never truly accept that unless and until you see that you are dead to death because of the resurrection of Jesus and the promise of the same life we see revealed in Him.

Jesus didn't die for your bad actions, He took and axe the root of them which was death.

Just as I said before, just seeing a sacrifice for bad behavior will never let you go to rest that you are free from the reign of death.
You must see that a ‘man’ with your sin and your death died and was raised to glory and immortality by being fully persuaded that God was His Father, and the shepherd of His life.

Reason #7 -- Not seeing the hope of the gospel.

In a world that is still filled with death; just seeing that Jesus died and was raised will not give you hope unless you can see that His testimony was your testimony.

He conquered ‘your’ death and the life He came out of the grave with is the promise of the life (that same promise that was from the beginning) to be revealed in you in the resurrection from the dead.

Jesus was the son of God but Romans 1:4 says that he was revealed to be the son of God in the resurrection.

Unless you can see that you were cut from the same rock as Jesus, the son of man and that you also will be revealed as a son of God in the resurrection, you are not seeing ‘the faith’ presented in Jesus.

We have the promise of the same life we see in the resurrected and immortality. It’s not a “iffy’ hope, it’s a certain hope, God made it a certain hope in Christ Jesus (who is the very Word of eternal life) coming in the flesh and being raised in flesh and bone by the Spirit; being the author and finisher of that faith and that hope to all who believe.

That hope is seated at the Fathers right hand until all be fulfilled in the new heaven and new earth.

Closing thoughts:

Whether you see the word sin in the bible as a noun or a verb (sinful actions), you can be certain of this; the cause of all of it is death and the word that brought death and the conquering of death its only solution.

Death is a word that you lack life (life = love, joy peace).
Why does one steal? To get that which they think will give them life (love, joy, peace etc...). This is true of anything we could call sin or a work of the flesh.

We can only understand the forgiveness of sin through understanding the forgiveness of death.

God’s forgiveness was not about appeasing anger but about divorcing us from the death that was reigning over us.

For until death was conquered; men saw themselves as orphans in the earth and only continued to lust and labor for life through their own ability, the very wisdom that brings the death.

This corrupt wisdom is the cause of every death that ever has occurred. It gets its strength from DEATH; which is why God’s solution was to conquer our death.

These are God’s words about death in Hosea 13:14: I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 2 Tim 1:10

God’s perfect solution was not that we would obey His rules but that we would live and not die being clothed with His life and immorality.

Those who see they are dead to death and alive to God; have a lively hope that contains the power of an endless life that overcomes the death in the world.

Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man (Jesus) is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: (the forgiveness of death). This is the gospel and it is good news to all people of every nation and ever race.

All who are persuaded, and grab hold of this testimony and this truth will appear in history; being revealed as the children of God in the resurrection from the dead.
